Himal Obit : Himal Dinan, the beloved adopted son of myself and my ex-wife Kathleen, passed away today after his kidneys finally gave out. For those of you that didn’t know him, he was a wise old Burmalayan Bobtail with a many faceted personality. He was also known as Muffin O’Riley, Muffin Dumbrowski, Muff Daddy, Heimel Whinestein, the Dread Pirate Muffbeard, and my personal favorite Muffananda. He was the 19th cat brought back from the brink of death by an angelic foster dad, which just so happened to be his daddy’s lucky number. Upon landing in our laps, he showered us with love and light (and occasionally pee) and led a long and purr filled second life. He had a big open 3rd eye and he used it to visit us in dreams on the night before he stopped eating and drinking. In my dream, I was scuba diving came across a baby harp seal that reminded me of a painting that Kathleen and I had gotten because it reminded them of Himal. It was called Lights of Home by Schim Schimmel and it depicted a white seal and a speckled seal with the green northern lights swirling above. Here’s a link to a picture of it: http://www.missouripuzzle.com/picture/schim1804-4.jpg In Kathleen’s dream, she was swimming in the ocean and whales were breaching completely out of the water and she was dodging them as they came crashing down…”Love Bombs” she called them. Then she came across a white and tan speckled cat swimming and she knew it wasn’t going to make it and was going to drown. This was before I had told her that Himal was sick. He will be sorely missed. It would warm my heart if you would take a moment to hold Himal in the light, send him some loving energy, and imagine him transitioning into this beautiful painting and preparing for a favorable rebirth as a baby seal or any another sea creature of his choosing. I could also use some TLC right now as he was my main source of physical affection and my heart is really missing him.
